Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween Everyone

IMG_2276

Its Halloween, where did that year go?

Tradition in Fayssac is that all the kids come around at 5pm, kev and I waited, nothing  so we  decided to take the dog for a walk leaving Kev’s mum in charge of proceedings, candles lit, sweets out and dog with us. As we were at the bottom of the field we could here the screams of the kids raiding the sweeties, so off we strode with a happy doggy and it sounded like the kiddies strode off happy on a sugar hi.

On our return from walkies with an exhausted pickle, the bowl was empty, so some quick visual readjusting was needed of the Halloween display.

Now as my dear friend Rachel will know i am so predictable and as she is not with us this year but in Saudi wearing a Darth Vader costume and not just for All hallows Eve, we always try to watch the ultimate halloween film “Hocus Pocus” staring the Divine miss M.

So just for Rachel {wee miss you honey]  heres a clip.

And to keep the spooky feeling of this post, we have had some lovely evening walks with the Pickle, mainly because I’m still on summertime and keep forgetting it gets dark so early now.

The evening skies have been beautifull.

Warm days, cool nights and bumper crops

Over the last few weeks we have had truly wonderful weather, amazing sun rises, some misty, and a mix of warm, even hot days with cool nights.

I love this time of year, the feeling that winter is fast approaching but with a hint of summer sunshine to keep us going strong. We have had a few windy nights which in fact has been rather good as mother nature has helped to make all the almonds and walnuts drop from the trees, so thanks MN.

Today i spent some time harvesting the almonds and what a bumper crop we have had this year.

The last of our summer guests departed last week, lunches and dinners were enjoyed outside.

It was even warm enough to sit outside a few nights and enjoy the stars and garden.

Our new Kitchen table was delivered last week, its made from floorboards that are over 15o years old, just the kitchen to do now then!!!!

As were the railings we found at a reclamation yard, 30 meters of them, they are going to go around the edge of the decking, mmm mind you we are not quite sure how yet!!!

And Barnaby Pickles and Miel Miaow continue to survey their land, so all is happy with the world.

Adventures of an olive tree

Our dear Sheri has been staying with us ( her first visit) and saw this fabulous olive tree in our local super market Le Clerc and very kindly bought it for us as a house warming gift.
Madame who we bought it off wheeled it to our car using an amazing electric pallet truck, it was like moving air, effortless.
When she saw our car, her face was a picture such a flabbergasted expression, “but it will not fit” she said in a fab Allo Allo English accent. “Oui, oui” we both said in unison and kept nodding our heads in a yes manner.
Off she went with her pallet truck, ” after five minutes “I think we have been abandoned, maybe we should get it delivered” Sheri said. But just as we were considering this Madame returned with three strapping lads who were up for a task, “better than stacking shelves” says I. They huffed, puffed and squeezed it into my poor car.

After lots of thank you’s “Let’s take the back roads home, to avoid the police” says I, so off we trot at a snails pace only to bump straight into a police car turning around the corner, thankfully they were more interested in whatever was happening up ahead and didn’t even notice us, phew!!!
A short ride home and now our Olivier is in its new home, well temporary home as it eventually sit by the pool, once the decking is finished.
Thank you Sheri, Madame, strapping lads, Blodwyn ( that’s the cars name) & the police for taking no notice off us.
